Pract 2.01 (2nd attempt)
BBDC Class 2b
Pract 2.01 29 July 2018
Session 4: 1.20pm-3.00pm
So, I came down again for the second attempt of my 2.01. I was quite early for the lesson and waited awhile for the lesson to start. Anyway, I'm annoyed cause there isn't alot of slots for 2.01 especially during weekday nights. So, yep, I had to come during the weekends again.
So, anyway, we went and did the same thing. Personally, I liked this instructor cause he passed me for my 1.03. HAHA and I felt that he really has to heart to want his students to learn and pass so he really tries. So, I'm glad I got him.
So, the sun was relentless and it was really hot. Felt slightly faint actually. So, anyway, we did the same things. He mentioned that the left turn is ok. However, I have to be careful when I check my blindspot, to not turn my head too much as it would cause my bike to wobble. So, yeah.
He was a much better instructor than my previous instructor for 2.01. Like, he would ride with us and tell us say, if the traffic is really slow, you can consider stopping and wait for the traffic to move more first before following behind. That was really great cause maybe cause I conscious about the person behind me if I stop. But, yeah I felt that it was good that he instructed that and sort of "gave permission" to stop. So, anyway its the same lesson so the procedure is the same.
Oh! He highlighted to me that when I come up the slope, I should not brake lightly then clutch in kick down and brake fully. Instead, I should rev and go up, clutch in and kick down first before braking. It would be more stable like that. So, I tried afew times and it was really more stable. I guess it's cause we're stopping on the slope so there's no need to brake lightly first before clutching in and kicking down. Which we learnt in 1.03. Another thing was that, when moving off, and you reach the biting point, the rev will drop, thus you need to throttle more after reaching biting point, then check back and release foot brake. Then as you go down the slope, release clutch to engine brake then slowly come to a stop and clutch in. So, these are things that the instructor taught and guided me as I practiced. Thus, I really prefered this instructor. I think cognitively I knew that the rev will drop when reach biting point but in practice I guess I sort of forgot.
When moving off I still kept peddling the floor as I moved off. Sian.. is cause I just don't feel safe and needed extra security. The instructor kept telling me not to peddle the floor. I think I didn't for...once or twice. HAHA the rest of the times I did. He also said that after moving off, I need to release foot brake completely. Actually, a part of me felt that I did release completely, and another part of me was thinking.. what's wrong with having abit of foot brake so that I can go down the slope slowly. I mean there is still engine braking mahhh.. So, yeah internally I was frustrated everytime he told me to release my footbrake fully.
So, we kept practicing. I felt that I could do better and was prepared to come back for the lesson again. However, the instructor told me that I can move on to 2.02 and he also warned that 2.02 won't be as easy. So, all in all, I'm really glad to have passed the lesson and to continue on to the next pract. I know that I really need to practice on my slope though cause really still buey zai.
So, finally, 2.01, passed at 2nd attempt.
